Interdepartmental Mail

Campus Mail

Mail delivered from one department or representative on campus to another can be placed in either a designated envelope or a standard one of your choosing.

Standard Envelope

If the mail piece is not sent in an inter-departmental envelope, the mail piece must be distinguished by placing the words “CAMPUS MAIL” in the upper right-hand corner where postage would be applied.

When addressing campus mail, use three lines:

  1. Campus Mail
  2. Individual’s name
  3. Department’s name

Typing the address directly on the envelope or affixing a label using USPS mailing standards will improve processing speed. Please type all words using CAPITAL LETTERS, and use a sans-serif font, such as Arial or Helvetica, and a font size between 8 and 12 points.

Inter-departmental Envelope

Inter-departmental envelopes are the property of Mail & Package Services and are to be used only for the distribution of mail between departments. They are not to be used to mail personal items or for any other type of personal use.

When filling out an inter-departmental envelope, please use the line directly below the last-used line.

  1. Provide the full name and department of the recipient, or the name of the department if you’re unsure of the recipient.
  2. Cross out any previous names and/or departments on both the front and back of the envelope

While carriers deliver departmental mail on a regular schedule, changes in campus operations may restrict building access.

In these conditions, departmental mail will be held for pickup at the mailroom window.
