Niner Course Pack: Opt Out Open, New Express Pickup
We’re officially less than 30 days from the start of fall 2026!
The Niner Course Pack opt out window is now open. Students registered for classes this fall have until Friday, Aug. 28, to decide whether or not to opt out of the program.
How It Works
The Niner Course Pack is an all-in-one textbook rental program. Students pay a flat rate of $20 per credit our for all their course materials. For example, a 15-credit semester would cost $300.
Students receive an email 30 days before classes start (or once they register for classes) to confirm their order. They can select either shipping or pickup for physical textbook rentals. Digital materials will be available in Canvas on the first day of class.
Most students are automatically enrolled every semester.

Use our handy workflow to decide whether or not to stay enrolled or opt out of the Niner Course Pack.
- How much will you pay for the Niner Course Pack this semester? Take your total number of credit hours and multiply it by $20.
- How much will you pay for textbooks if you opt out? Go to the Barnes & Noble textbook finder, enter your courses and select “Retrieve Materials.” The price for each textbook will be listed beside it. Add up the total cost.
- Compare the costs in question one and two. If the answer to question one is cheaper, you should stay enrolled. If not, you might want to opt out this semester.
- Consider other factors:
- The Niner Course Pack could save you time and effort by getting you all your course materials in one place.
- The Niner Course Pack is charged to your student account, so it’s easy to use leftover financial aid to cover the cost.
- If you change or add courses during the semester, you’ll receive the materials for the new courses at no additional cost.

New! Students who choose to pick up their Niner Course Pack materials can now schedule their pickup ahead of time.
Arrive at the Barnes & Noble Charlotte bookstore in the Popp Martin Student Union during your scheduled window. Your textbooks will be waiting in the Pickaxe Express line downstairs.
