Beginning-of-semester checklist

Tips for the first week of class

Dining

  • Download the Transact Mobile Ordering app to order food and drinks to go.
  • Check the Dine on Campus website or app to check dining menus and hours.
  • Do you have allergies or unique dietary needs? Both dining halls have a “Delicious Without” station free of the top nine allergens.
  • Check for these symbols in dining halls to find food that’s vegan, vegetarian or high protein.

Parking

  • Check our parking maps to find parking based on your student/permit type.
  • Parking decks near the center of campus can fill up fast. Use parkingavailability.charlotte.edu to check if decks are full before you drive to campus. Try parking in decks like North Deck or South Village Deck that are less crowded the first week of classes.
  • If the license plate reader at a parking deck gate doesn’t work, you can scan your 49er ID at the gate as a backup.

Transportation

  • Download the Passio GO! app to track Niner Transit buses and Paratransit vehicles on campus.
  • Download the CATS Pass app and login with your @charlotte.edu email to ride the city light rail, buses and airport shuttles fare-free.

Niner Course Pack

Confirm your textbooks ahead of time to have them ready on the first day of classes. You’ll receive an email with your Niner Course Pack order one month before the start of classes or one to two business days after you register.

Not sure if the Niner Course Pack is right for you?

  1. Go to Find Course Materials and select “Fall 26 OPT OUT” from the Term dropdown menu and enter your class information.
  2. Once you’ve entered all your classes, select “Retrieve Materials.”
  3. You’ll see a breakdown of all your course materials for the semester and how much they cost. Add up the total to see how much you’d pay out of pocket, and compare it to the flat rate you’d pay through the Niner Course Pack: $20 per credit hour.

Tip: If you opt out, you’ll have to purchase your own course materials, including digital materials. Any digital courses covered by the Niner Course Pack will be removed from Canvas once you opt out.
