Upper Prospector closes Dec. 6 for renovation
Big changes are coming to Upper Prospector, and it’s going to be worth the wait! In fall 2025, you’ll have a fresh lineup of quick-service restaurants to enjoy, as well as a lounge-type environment providing space to study, hang out, relax and have a good time.
Coming soon:
- Qdoba – This national favorite is known for its bold, Mexican-inspired dishes made fresh. From customizable burritos to bowls, Qdoba offers the flexibility to design your own meal with the ingredients you love.
- The Halal Shack – If you’re into Mediterranean and Middle Eastern flavors, The Halal Shack offers delicious wraps, bowls, and salads, with plenty of choices for vegetarians and vegans. It’s perfect for anyone craving healthier, flavorful options, and those who observe a Halal diet.
- The Oasis – Unique to UNC Charlotte, The Oasis was created by our own Dining Services team based on student feedback. It’ll feature a variety of options like sushi, coffee, hand-crafted sandwiches and ice cream.
The campus’s beloved Panda Express from Cone Center is also relocating to Upper Prospector, making it more convenient to the center of campus. These new locations will have longer hours, giving you more flexibility. Final hours are still in the works.
What’s closing:
Upper Prospector dining locations (Jamal’s Chicken, Mamma Leone’s, Salsarita’s, Wild Blu Sushi and 49er Fresh grab-and-go) will close on Friday, Dec. 6, 2024, to prepare for the renovation.
Mail & Package Services will temporarily relocate some services to Union Station and South Village. Read more about Mail & Package Services changes.
What’s remaining:
Chick-fil-A, 49er Fresh and Burger 704 will remain open during construction. You can still grab drinks, sandwiches and Wild Blu Sushi from Market at Prospector in Mid Prospector.
REPROS will remain open in Lower Prospector for printing and document services.
The Food Truck Village – starting Jan. 13, 2025!
Beginning Jan. 13, 2025, a food truck village with rotating restaurants will operate outside of Upper Prospector to ensure a variety of delicious food options during renovation. Some of those food trucks include favorites like Mister Greek, Chaconia, HotBoys Chicken and Marlie Qs.
All food trucks will accept Declining Balance, 49er Account and Optional Dining Account funds, as well as credit and debit card.
Say goodbye at the farewell party – Dec. 4
Students, faculty and staff are invited to say farewell at the Goodbye Upper Prospector Party from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4.
Attendees can write a message on the wall using Posca markers, contribute to a time capsule with photos and memories of the space and help build the cube capsule out of food packaging from dining locations that are leaving the space.
Refreshments, cookies and prizes will be provided. Join us for the fun and take a Polaroid with your friends and Norm as a keepsake!
